Using baskets to organize your home is a simple yet effective strategy to help you create a more orderly and functional living space, making daily life more efficient and enjoyable.

Baskets come in various sizes, shapes, and materials, making them suitable for different rooms and purposes. They can hold anything from toys and clothes to kitchen items and toiletries. They can also fit easily into shelves, closets, or under furniture, maximizing your space.

Most importantly, baskets help to keep items contained and off surfaces like countertops and floors, reducing visible clutter and making the home look tidier.

So, if you’re in great need of a simple strategy to help you organize your home, you can’t go wrong with baskets!

Indeed, there are many ways you can organize every room in your home using baskets. And that’s what this post is all about.

So, let’s check it out!

IN THE KITCHEN

1. Pantry baskets

Baskets are indeed very useful in the pantry. You can use these to easily categorize your food items such as fresh produce, food for snacks, baking supplies, pasta and grains, and spices.

Take a look at these pantries!

Woven baskets are used to organize anything that was in a container or small box. These include snacks, coffee, condiments and cooking ingredients.

Huge wicker baskets are used to organize dog food and treats on the left and lunch boxes on the right.

Also notice the two small wicker baskets on the third shelf. These are used to organize oil, vinegar, condiments and protein powders.

Wire baskets are used here to hold fresh produce in the pantry and other food items in containers.

Now here’s a pantry using baskets in almost everything! Apart from using tiered risers and turntables, almost all items are already in baskets! And notice that different kinds of baskets are also used – wicker baskets, white plastic bins, clear bins and floor baskets.

Now it’s helpful to remember that when you’re using baskets in almost everything, there’s got to be labels so things don’t get mixed up.

2. Utensil holder

Place a basket on your kitchen countertop to organize spatulas, ladles, whisks and cooking spoons. You can simply repurpose a basket that you already have at home for this. Or if you like a new one, you can buy a basket that has been really designed to hold cooking utensils, and even cutlery such as spoon, fork and knives.

Indeed, having your cooking utensils on the kitchen counter makes it so easy to access while you’re cooking. No need to open drawers or cabinets.

3. Cookbooks and recipe basket

Gathering your cookbooks and recipes in one basket enables you to put every recipe in just one place. Now you don’t have to rummage through drawers just to find a cookbook or a recipe. Organize them in one place just like this!

It’s also helpful to mark every recipe that you often cook. If it’s in a cookbook, mark that page. You may also want to make a binder with your favorite recipes. Doing so helps to gather every recipe that you regularly cook in just one folder – it’s like a cookbook of your own!

4. Under sink storage

We usually keep our cleaning supplies under the kitchen sink. And well, you know how messy it can be down there. But again, you can easily organize everything in there using baskets! Take a look at these!

IN THE LIVING ROOM

1. Toy basket

Oh, this is probably my favorite organization trick at home! Using a basket to keep my son’s toys is my best solution to an easy-to-clean living room. It made keeping those small toys very easy. And even if my son is just a toddler (2 years old), he is already able to help in keeping his toys, by simply tossing them in that basket!

So, if you’re looking for the easiest way to tame your toy clutter at home, I highly recommend using baskets! You can have one large basket (or plastic bin) and keep everything in there. Or have a couple of baskets to help in categorizing your kids’ toys.

And you can place baskets in every place where toys tend to accumulate. This will help you clear the mess in less time. Like, place one large basket in the corner of a room, small baskets in the bookshelf, on top of the dresser, one near the kitchen counter, and so on.

And again, kids can help! Just make it easy for them. And using baskets make it super easy even for a 2-year-old!

Having a laundry basket in the bedroom makes it easy to immediately store dirty clothes, rather than leaving them on the floor or draping them over furniture. This helps keep the room tidy and organized.

Also, instead of gathering dirty clothes from various parts of the house, having a designated spot in the bedroom streamlines the process of collecting laundry. This can save time, especially in a busy household.
