My 3-year-old loves watching parades. With that, he also loves playing musical instruments that he sees in those parades – drum, xylophone, cymbals, flute, trumpet, trombone, tenor drum. He also loves playing the band leader with his whistle! Hence, I made him these coloring pages, and he loves them!

I also added stringed instruments that I’d like him to learn to play when he’s older even if these are not included in parades.

Now, if your kid also loves to play musical instruments, you bet he/she will love this too!

Simply download then print on a Letter size paper (8.5″ by 11″) or A4. You can choose to print everything, or let your kids choose which ones to print.

I printed everything and my boy just loves them all!

Your kids will not color them perfectly.

Please don’t expect your kids to color your prints perfectly like how we adults color them. They won’t. But that’s fine. What’s important is they’re having fun coloring, and they’re learning!

They’re learning the different colors, familiarizing themselves with the various musical instruments – what they are called. And if they are music inclined, well, you’re building them a foundation. You are slowly building their abilities in music, and this is something that they can build on later on as they grow.

Here are some of the pages from my son’s coloring. (The neatly colored portions were done either by me or my mother-in-law.)

my son's coloring - whistle

Again, that’s okay. He had lots of fun coloring them with us, and we bonded over these simple prints, and that’s what’s important!

And here he is coloring his newly printed French horn page!

Color together!

It’s more fun coloring when you have company. And the kids just love it when Mama colors with them! They love it when you play with them! And they know when you are genuinely interested than when you’re just feigning it. So, Mama, be interested. And yes, color with your little ones!

My boy even asks me to do the coloring myself! He wants me to ask him, “what color do you have in there now?” Then he’ll get a crayon or a colored pencil from his case and give it to me, and I’ll color. He watches and giggles, and I know he’s having fun!

I would very much want him to color the prints himself, and perfectly, yes, but that will have to wait.

For now, this is enough.
