I just love it when things we often see as trash already, transforms into something still useful for the home. And so, this post is about that again, and this time, we’re dealing with fabric scraps.
If you’re into sewing, you probably have lots of fabric scraps. Well guess what, you don’t have to throw them just yet! Instead, collect them. And when you already have plenty, you can turn them into practical things that you can use at home.
I’ve gathered my favorite fabric scrap projects. Let me share them with you.

1. Festive Napkin Rings
These napkin rings are just so beautiful – perfect for any occasion!
2. Decorative Tapes
Use these as tapes in gift wrapping. Oh, it’s so unique! They look like washi tapes, but they’re really just fabric scraps! How cool is that?
3. Cord Keeper
Tangled cords no more! Sew your fabric scraps into cord keepers. Oh, these look so pretty!
4. Scrunchies
Give your hair colorful accessories with scrunchies from fabric scraps. Give some to your friends too.
5. Fabric Flowers
Make petals from fabric scraps and what you get is a beautiful fabric flower that’s meant for display! Put it in a glass jar and oh, it looks lovely in shelves and even as a centerpiece.
6. Makeup Remover Wipes
Sew your fabric scraps into makeup remover wipes. If you have lots of scraps you can also make some for your friends!
7. Headband
Make a handful of pretty headbands using your fabric scraps. If you have little girls, I’m sure they’ll like it! And make one for yourself too, Momma!
8. Feathers
Transform your colorful fabric scraps into decorative feathers. Then display these and oh, they look really nice!
9. Fabric Bowls
It’s like a fabric scrap mache. You can use these to hold office supplies or a small plant. It looks pretty on the table!
10. Notebook Decor
Hexagon decors are kind of popular. I’ve been seeing many samples when I browse for decor and crafts inspiration.
So, if you have these plain notebooks, sew your fabric scraps into hexagon shaped fabric pieces. And then sew that on your notebook’s cover. Oh, it looks adorable!
11. Hand Towels Decor
Here’s another hexagon inspired project! If you have hand towels that have embroidery that you don’t like, you can use your fabric scraps to sew hexagon decors over that, so you won’t see that ugly embroidery anymore.
Or if your hand towels are just plain and you want them to look colorful and pretty… well, here it is!
12. Mug Cozy
Not only does a mug cozy make your cup more beautiful, but it also keeps your hand from getting hurt from its heat.
13. Lip Gloss Case
Organize your lip gloss and tuck it easily inside your handbag. Organized and pretty!
14. Fabric Storage Pods
These are like organizers. So instead of the usual organizers, make fabric storage pods. You can use these to organize your small craft supplies!
15. Matching Scraps Game
Oh, give your kids something new to play with! Make a matching game with those pretty scraps. I’m sure they’ll love it!
16. Pencil Case with Zipper
Tame the pencil and pen clutter. And make it handy too with a pencil case. You can easily bring this anywhere you’re writing or coloring.
17. Sleep Mask
Prevent being disturbed by the lights when you’re sleeping or taking a nap. It also signals the people around you that when you’re sleeping, you mean it.
18. Fabric Bracelets
Oh, how gorgeous are these! You don’t need those fancy bracelets. Just some fabric scraps!
19. Bookmarks
This is a very simple fabric scrap buster project. Making these is also very straightforward. So, give your books some love with new bookmarks!
20. Coin Keeper Keychain
Make your own keychain from fabric scraps. And go the extra mile – make it a coin keeper as well.
21. Mini Scrap Quilt
I’ve always wanted to learn how to quilt. If you’re a beginner in quilting, here’s one way to make use of those fabric scraps – learn to quilt!
You can then use this to add to your decor, or sew on your tote bag, or it can be a mug rug too.
22. Colorful Bunting
This makes for a nice decor! Combine your colorful fabric scraps and turn these into a decorative bunting.
23. Hair Ties
Give your little girls these pretty and colorful hair ties. And make one for yourself too!
24. Catnip Toy
If you love cats like I do, this is one of the best gifts you can give them – a catnip toy made from fabric scraps. So simple and yet so enjoyed by our feline friends!
25. Garland
When you have lots of fabric scraps that you don’t really know what to do with anymore, try making a garland. Even the small bits of scraps can be used here. Then use it to decorate your rooms, or as an additional decor for special occasions.
